The Story

Tom and Manú talk about life in a metaphysical way. They seek for freedom, peace, connection – but how? Is ‘the Ego’ in the way? And what is that Ego after all? A leap of faith is the only way to find out. With awe they realize, a whole inner Universe is waiting for discovery. Will there be answers to their quest? And what will life be afterwards?

Along their journey, they encounter many familiar and unfamiliar situations:
”’Is that a parliament with politicians?’ he asks.
’What do you mean, archive?’”
Or that moment when Manú is close to buying a burb-button after they find out about renting cookies.
How can you not think of getting bonkers!? And of course: Will they ever manage to find that Ego thing?

Feeling overwhelmed from the very beginning, nothing can remain hidden for Tom. As things get stranger, he is forced to make a life-changing decision …

Tom and Dirk Writing

Tom had the idea to write the book. We talked and shared ideas, the adventures we had … It’s hard to believe that something like this happened. So how can we really write about it?
We began to structure the story, sketching different aspects. From this, whole poster boards developed …

The writing is very much on Tom. He likes writing outdoors, being in nature, diving deep into the writing process. I enjoy supporting him in this process. Writing can be a tricky thing sometimes. Sitting there and just wanting to write something good isn’t really how it works. We’ve found that you have to be open in your heart and listen. Then the story itself receives an invitation to unfold. Sometimes, that means just to sit and wait. At other times, you can’t write fast enough to bring all the words to paper which dance around you.

On Decision Making

Isn’t decision making sometimes such a funny thing to do? I tend to think each decision through to death before I make my choice. Tom is more, “Let’s give it a try!”. But later, on he rethinks his decision and tries to take it back halfways through. That said, we both do our best to listen to the circumstances around and within us as much as possible. This is helpful guidance! If the current path isn’t working, we are both open to change. We’ve learned that this helps to keep the process flowing, and life simply more relaxed.

Why is this a book?

Manú was not keen on the idea to just tell people about their wild ride. We think she was on the right track. From here, it became clear that our adventure has to be transcribed into a story which many people can relate to. It is truly a journey of discovery. And in some way, we’ve all already touched this journey …
